  12. I have an IBM Aptiva 530 with an internal GVC  14.4 fax/data modem. It
  13. did not come with a modem manual and all I can get from IBM is that
  14. the modem is "GVC F-1114HV/R1 or/R6; it supports Class 2 fax commands
  15. and V.42 bis."

  17. My problem is that whenever it connects to a Hayes modem at my ISP it
  18. either is very,very slow or else it will not connect at all to the
  19. news server. When it connects to other brand name modems at the ISP it
  20. works fine. The problem is only with Hayes modems.

  22. This is very frustrating as I have to hang up and try again whenever I
  23. hit a Hayes modem. The ISP is pretty busy so you can see my problem. I
  24. know nothing about modems ( as you can see ). Help anyone please?
